Staggered Delivery Settings
When sending a message to a large number of recipients, it may happen that the interest that is generated by the mailing overwhelms the resources that are promoted by the mailing.
For example, consider a mailing that promotes a special offer and that contains a link to a landing page from where the special offer can be purchased. This landing page is part of an online web shop. Now imagine that this special offer is mailed to a large number of recipients, who will receive the mailing at more or less the same time. If the special offer in the email generates a lot of interest, then it can happen that a large number of people will try to access the landing page in the web shop at about the same time, which may overwhelm the server capacity.
In such a situation it may be advisable to separate the large mailing into several smaller mailings that are delivered at different times, to spread out the load for the web shop server.
This is what the "staggered delivery" feature is for.
You can either switch off staggered delivery by selecting the Single Batch Delivery option, or you can switch it on with the Staggered Delivery option. If switched on, you must also specify the number of batches and the delay between the batches.
