Modify List Group or List Subscribers by Import
The import wizard lets you define the modifications that shall be performed on the list and/or list group subscribers.
The modifications defined in this wizard are used once, for a one-time import of subscriber data. If you want to define modification settings that you can save for later re-use, define and save a Reusable Importer instead.
The wizard has seven pages: Type, Type Details, Source, Parse Details, Map Fields, Mapping Details, and Launch Import.
The top row of the wizard displays links to these seven pages. The page that is currently open is highlighted. Depending on the choices made on some of the wizard pages, other pages may become disabled or may be shown in different versions. If a wizard page is disabled, then it means that this page is not necessary with the current choices and can safely be ignored.
Source Page: Import From Uploaded File, Server File or Database
Depending on the configuration made by the administrator, you may have the following options for importing data:
Import list group / list subscribers from a file: This allows you to upload the import data from a file on your local computer. This can be either a comma separated (CSV) text file or an Excel or OpenOffice spreadsheet file. Click Upload a file with list group / list subscriber rows to select a file for upload and import. Then on the next page, select the file from your local computer that you want to upload. If you select a text file (CSV file), you also need to select the file's character encoding from the drop-down menu. If however the selected file is a spreadsheet file that contains several non-empty datasheets, then after specifying the file, you also need to select the datasheet that contains the subscribers. Only the subscribers on this selected datasheet will be imported as subscribers. Any other subscribers on other datasheets (in the same spreadsheet file) will be ignored. If a file has already been uploaded, then the file name is displayed as well as the date and time of the upload, plus, in case of a spreadsheet file with several sheets, the datasheet name. If you want to upload a different file, click Upload a different file.
Import list group / list subscribers from a database or LDAP directory: This allows you to specify a database connection from which the import data will be read directly. Select the database connection and the SQL command (query) or LDAP search that LISTSERV Maestro shall execute to read the import data.
